Wordless Wednesday: Early

  1. No snowdrops here yet, but my yellow hellebore is brimming with buds, and my little pot of Katherine Hodgkin irises are flowering. Now yesterday's gales have finally remove that last leaves, I can see next door's hazel tree is festooned with catkins.

Even the seed potatoes arrived in the garden centres early this year!

  2. Snap - re the snowdrops!

I must get up to the allotment soon - I was going to collect some Nasturtium seeds for an early salad sowing, but your photo has me wondering whether I'll be collecting some leaves instead.

  3. Is number three a nicotiana ? If so it has arrived much too early at the party along with the strawberry too :)

  5. BST: Your yellow hellebore sounds lovely, and I must get myself some Katherine Hodgkins soon - had some in my last garden and thought they were a little weird but exquisite.

Hi VP - my nasturtiums have simply never stopped flowering. They aren't even looking like they're going to die down. I wonder if they'll just carry on into next year now?!

Anna - yes it's Nicotiana mutabilis, still flowering its socks off after several months. I dug some up to overwinter in the greenhouse but clearly needn't have bothered!

Tammy - my guess is you're not in the UK then :D A bit of me is thinking we need a good freeze now - the other bit is worrying it's on its way next month just as I'm sowing my seeds....
