September flowers

Things are beginning to go over a little, but the roses are making a spectacular late-summer show and as always, I'm surprised how much there is to see.

Thanks once more to May Dreams for organising Garden Bloggers Bloom Day!

  1. Thanks for joining in for bloom day! I like the slide show, that's quite a bit of good bloom in September.

  2. We have three plants in common (1 on my slideshow - Sedum 'Autumn Joy' + 2 that I didn't include - the Perovskia and Nasturtium) which goes to show that September needn't be lacking in blooms at all. A lot of people seem to think it does...

Good luck with your course - is it back to Capel College and that long communte for you?

AND many thanks for your donation :)

  3. thanks Carol and VP!

VP - it's not so much that I think there aren't any nice blooms in September, more that I think more of them should be in my garden :D

and yes, I'm off to Capel next week - all day every Wednesday. Hell of a commute in the morning - I have to get there by 9am so you can imagine how much fun that's going to be up the M25 and across the M4. It'll be worth it though - garden visits are on the curriculum!

glad you got the donation too - I just loved your open garden :D

  6. Wonderful September colour in your garden.
Cyclamen are just such an amazing flower - did you lie on the ground to photograph it?

  7. thank you MMD and Karen!

I adore cyclamen of all sorts, but Cyclamen coum is a true sweetheart of a flower. Best seen, as you say Karen, flat on your tum in the grass! But sometimes things this exquisite are worth a grass stain or two...

  13. thank you to all :D

I do love my roses - in fact with apologies to Garden Monkey I'm almost Duck-like in my obsession with them. Strange since my other obsession is with tropical plants at the moment - and you couldn't get less tropical than a rose. And they're very cantankerous to grow. But you just forgive them as soon as they burst into flower somehow. My garden just wouldn't be the same without them.

  15. Lovely photos. The lime green Nicotiana is very fresh looking, and almost spring like in its verve.

  16. thank you both - it's lovely to be able to share it all!

The Nicotiana has been particularly good this year - not sure why, it obviously likes it rainy and cloudy. I've been sowing it each year for the last two or three years - it's a staple in my green, purple and white colour scheme in the front garden. This time of year it's pretty nearly the best thing there apart from the purple heucheras!
