We got here... at last

Here's a picture for the divine Ms B, who wanted to know what my new house looks like.

The blue sky helps: I am told this is an aberration, as we are now officially living in the West Country where it rains. Nearly all the time. Except since we moved here. Perhaps we might be inadvertently responsible for a seismic climatic shift in the British Isles?

Anyway: yes, we are here, esconced in our improbably chocolate-box thatched stone cottage, and I also have a broadband connection at last: a confusion with BT and the previous owners left me internet-free for a whole week and a half, and I was rather scared at how utterly lost and slightly frantic I felt without it.

Now however normal service has been resumed: although that kind of depends what you define as normal as our lives are now so different it feels as if our 'normal' has morphed into something we're having to get used to recognising.

But it is wonderful: and about as far from our semi-detached ex-council house in Surrey as it is possible to get. Which was kind of the point, really.

Isn't it amazing how much you can change your life by changing your house? I am still astonished five years after our move to rural Wales at how different my life is now, considering that all the important relationships in my world are the same as they used to be. Will look forward to watching your new life unfold!

Now how did you know I was divine?

I think if I was you I would keep pinching myself to see if it was real. I also look forward to seeing how it all goes. Onwards & upwards!

I note there is a bracket on the side of the house waing for your hanging basket!

Now we wait impatiently for the first before pictures of the garden!

It looks devine, thatched roof, just like Ireland. How does a thatched roof hold up to a regular roof?

Not been following blogs of late so I didn't know about the impending move but hope you will be very happy in your new home (and garden). Ann.

thank you to everyone :D

VP: never could resist chocolate boxes, small or large

Elizabeth: another 'downshifter' then? don't know why this is downshifting when I have definitely moved up: we are now living at 600ft above sea level apparently.

Ms B: your divinity shines through all. Hanging baskets beckon from both ends of the house (there is a matching one on the other side). I think chillies, don't you?

Elephant's Eye: not long now...

LPG: to be honest I don't know yet, having only lived under thatch for a matter of a couple of weeks. So far I can tell you that my paranoia levels have tripled but like most paranoia, for no actual real reason. The roof is also very nearly new, which helps counteract the general ignorance on such matters.

Victoria: thank you. I am awaiting your arrival with hedge clippers.

Karen and Ann: thank you too! I shall try not to bore with tales of living on hillsides and will occasionally leave my little eyrie for pastures more sociable and, indeed, of interest to other people: but not for now :D
