July flowers

There was a full moon last night. I didn't realise until I switched off the telly and wandered outside to give the dogs a stretch: I ended up transfixed by the sight of my garden in full flower and bathed in silver light.

It may be past the summer equinox but for me July is the height of summer, the only time of the year when you can experience evenings like that. Everything is just at that perfect point of maturity, and bursting into flower with an unstoppable energy.

Next month it'll be nowhere near as good - is anyone's garden at its best in August, I wonder? - so I'm determined to the most of this month while I can. Not only am I going to take more time out just to look at all those flowers - that's pretty much the point of it, after all - but I'm also going to make the most of those exquisite summer's evenings. Especially after the moon comes out.

Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Gardens for hosting Garden Bloggers Bloom Day!

I was mesmerised by the moon last night too, and found it hard to tear myself away back into the house after closing up the greenhouse at dusk.
Some lovely blooms - we have a couple of the vibrant magenta morning glory that I grew from seed trailing up the posts supporting the raspberries; I love the vibrant hue of the flowers but in a similar not-quite-sure sort of way.
And glorious cosmos and alchemilla - no garden should be without either!

Not only beautiful blooms, but a great way of displaying them. I'm going to have to try that. So many new things to learn.

A slide show is a pretty way to show off all your colourful blooms. Thanks for sharing on GBBD. V

Thank you to all for your kind comments!

Sara - your magenta morning glory sounds intriguing. I kind of like magenta flowers (Geranium 'Ann Folkard' and also psilostemon are favourites).

TSB: thank you :D and yes I wouldn't be without Cosmos either - it goes on forever too.

Commonweeder, GIAS, Larry & Birdwoman - Slide is a bit addictive: lets you put lots of pics on your blog without stretching off for miles down the page!

Philip - you're quite right, I'll try to put a follow button up asap - thanks for the heads-up!

We had cloud but i'm going to have a look now. amazed by the amount of sunshine in your garden photo's, we've had so much rain it's been hard to get mine for July, though I managed lots for June.
